IF JESUS' WORK IS FINISHED, WHAT IS THAT TO THE CHRISTIAN?

jesus-crucified_smJOHN 17: 4

"I have glorified you on earth, I have finished the work which You have given me to do."

MATTHEW 9: 37-38

"The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few.  So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send out more workers for His fields."

MATTHEW 28: 19

"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."

What was the finished work Jesus was telling His Father He had completed?  You might guess John 3:16 answers the question, and you would be correct.  Let's review it. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."  The next verse, 17, "God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it." We can see from these verses that Jesus' primary reason for coming into the world was to save the world from sin to anyone that believed that He died for them and in their place on Calvary's Cross.  For we are the sinners, not Him! He did not come to do the work of evangelizing the world while here on earth.  He chose twelve men to do the work of evangelism.  He personally trained them for that mission.   He came to die, to save anyone that believed He is the Son of God, the Savior, Redeemer of the whole world.  So then, would you say He was the long awaited Messiah of the Jews?  YES, in every aspect His work was FINISHED!!

So, in Matthew 28:19, Jesus was reminding His disciples that their work on earth was to, "make disciples" of all nations. That was their assignment and Jesus was making sure they understood.  He was making it clear that this must be their primary concern.  It is also for Jesus Followers today as we bring many to Salvation in Christ, mentoring and helping them to develop a strong relationship with Him and His Father.  This is every Christian's job description...to finish the assignment Jesus left us to do.  This assignment is not necessarily in our back yards, it is "GLOBAL!"  We must never lose sight of the "Great Commission" that Christ Himself gave us to do.  The "tool" that continues to instruct us is His Holy Word, the Bible, we must know it! Also, we must continue in prayer concerning this task, as the Apostle Paul told the Church at Ephesus in Ephesians 6: 19-20, "Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an Ambassador in chains.  Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should." Jesus set before us a great task as it was before Paul, and it is attainable if we just do it as he did!  We must look at it as serious and urgent!  People are spiritually starved and it is our assignment to feed them, not tomorrow or some day, BUT RIGHT NOW!!

People of God, you can't continue coming to Church and sitting as just a spectator.  You must according to Jesus, GET INVOLVED!  You are His Ministers, and this Gospel is depended upon you to take it to a lost world living in total darkness.  REMEMBER,  "THE HARVEST IS GREAT BUT THE WORKERS ARE FEW."  HE FINISHED HIS ASSIGNMENT...WHAT ABOUT YOUR PART?  ARE YOU ASLEEP?  THERE IS NO TIME TO SIT AND THINK IT OVER...THE TIME IS UP!  ACTION IS NOW!

WAKE UP CHURCH...THERE IS PLENTY WORK TO DO!  STOP SUCKING THE BABY BOTTLE & MOVE ON TO THE PURE MEAT OF THE WORD.  HAVE COMPASSION, PREACH AND TEACH THE WHOLE PURE MESSAGE OF THE WORD TO THE LOST ONES JESUS TOLD US TO FEED.  GET BUSY NOW!!
